LAVIE - THE 80’S

LAVIE - INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS

This was an interesting and busy decade for LAVIE. She mostly created abstract works with important empty white spaces, showing Matissean influences and vivid color delineations in large formats. She had eight individual exhibitions in New York, Paris, Caracas, and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Francisco Narváez in Porlamar, Margarita Island, Venezuela.

She also participated in group exhibitions, such as the 80th and 81st International Festivals of Design and Graphic Arts in Osaka, Japan, where she was awarded the “Toyogafu” Prize, a silver medal, and a diploma in 1980, followed by a gold medal and diploma in 1981.

Other notable participations included the II Bienal de Artes Visuales at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas in 1983, the V Bienal de Arte Iberoamericano in Mexico City in 1986, the Triennial of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1988, and the XXIII Prix International d’Art Contemporain de Montecarlo, Monaco in 1989. A great decade!
