LAVIE - THE 70’S
LAVIE : A BUSY DECADE
This was a very busy decade for LAVIE! Her abstract period began, with hints of figurative art in a few works from her 1971 show at Galería de Arte Moderno. In 1973, she exhibited at the Ateneo de Barcelona, Venezuela. In 1975, she returned to Galería de Arte Moderno, showcasing 15 black-and-white works on paper and 17 acrylics on canvas.
This exhibition highlighted her unique sense of space, the importance of white and open areas, and her ability to arrange shapes and figures. In 1977, she had a solo exhibition at the Centro de Bellas Artes de Maracaibo, Venezuela, featuring figurative works in black and white on paper and abstract acrylics on canvas. In May 1979, she presented enormous canvases depicting fruits at Galería Siete Siete in Caracas, which were very well received. Later that year, she had a successful solo show in Paris at Gallerie Marcel Bernheim, receiving positive reviews from French and Venezuelan art publications.
